There’s something about watching bears from a wooden deck that feels a bit like zootopia… Maybe it’s just that we’re so used to seeing bears in their natural habitat all over the backcountry of Alaska, that a wooden platform seems so out of place. Also, our Bear Guides are just that, Guides, they are not pilots attempting to be Bear Guides. We leave the flying to our pilots and let our Bear Guides do what they do best, show you bears in a safe, and friendly manner that’s not disruptive to the bears. After an exhilarating flightseeing tour from Kenai you’ll touch down in Lake Clark National Park and be led by your guide to a premier location to observe bears in their natural environment.

WHAT TO EXPECT

When choosing a Seward departure:
Your experience begins in Seward when your KBA Guide greets you at your place of lodging, or at a designated meeting point (cruise port, etc). You’ll then be transported to our flight office in Kenai; approximately a 2.5 hour scenic drive. But don’t worry, we make the drive a fun “road trip” experience, stopping for photos and looking for wildlife along the way!

From our Kenai office, you’ll fly in a bush plane all the way to Lake Clark National Park. The scenic flight offers up opportunities to see steaming snowcapped volcanoes, massive glaciers, and maybe even some wildlife.

Once you arrive in the backcountry there’s always a chance that the bears may greet us near the airplane as they frequently roam through the area. We’ll set off looking for bears, a nice walk on the beach, through grassy meadows, and to a quiet place to observe bears in their natural environment.

After about 6 hours, you’ll arrive back in Kenai after yet another round of the best flightseeing Alaska has to offer. Then it’s back to Seward on another scenic drive. This trip is fully guided by Kenai Backcountry Adventures.
