ALASKA BACKCOUNTRY SKIING & SPLITBOARING

Kenai Backcountry Adventures provides guided Alaska backcountry skiing and splitboarding trips in several areas of Alaska. It goes without saying that this is a seasonal activity, but many of our guests are surprised at how far into late spring and early summer we can still enjoy the backcountry on snowboards and skis.

Our guided Alaska backcountry skiing and splitboarding adventures have been structured to provide you with a world class backcountry powder adventure. With several options available, you’re sure to find a trip suited to your level of stoke!

We provide these trips on a full-day, and multi-day basis. Multi-day trips are perfect for those looking to go deep into untracked terrain and spend more than a day in the good stuff. Otherwise, a full-day trip allows us enough time to ascend and descend some great lines, and build some epic memories.

If you need a good set of backcountry skis or a splitboard they can be rented in Anchorage, call us for more details. Also, if you have a snowboard, but not a splitboard, we highly suggest a splitboard; travel is on splitboard is far more efficient and pleasant than on snowshoes. Call us for recommendations.

Reach out to us for more information about our backcountry skiing & splitboarding trips. We offer discounted rates for groups, and we also offer trips on an exclusive basis for those looking for a private guided adventure.

ALASKA SKI & SNOWBOARD MOUNTAINEERING

Kenai Backcountry Adventures offers ski and snowboard mountaineering trips in a few different locations such as the Kenai Mountains, and the Alaska Range. Our trips range from 2 to 7 days and we spend the days moving through the mountains and across massive glaciers, plunging ourselves into a world of jagged peaks and brilliant blue icefalls.

Your trip includes spectacular ski plane flights to access remote zones in the mountains. After we establish a camp we will begin to learn crampon, ice axe, and rope team skills. Training in avalanche awareness, anchor techniques, belaying, crevasse rescue, navigation, and hazard/risk assessment are covered as you gain experience. Conditions permitting we will then put your new skills to use climbing and skiing some spectacular Alaskan mountains.

The two-day ski & snowboard mountaineering trip gives participants a fun, instructional, introduction to climbing in the mountains while the longer courses allow for the practical application of your new skills. Our philosophy is one of learning by doing. Small groups and a low participant to guide ratio give us the flexibility to accommodate individual goals and expectations. No previous mountaineering experience is necessary, but you must be able to ski/snowboard advanced intermediate ski runs without falling.
