TOUR OVERVIEW
Why This Trip Hits Different
Deep in the backcountry is where memories are made—especially when you have the time to slow down and actually be there. Over five days, you’ll watch weather roll across the mountains, feel the temperature drop as you step onto glacial ice, and experience the kind of wild that most visitors only see from airplane windows.
Small Groups. Big Alaska.
We cap this at 8 guests so it stays personal, efficient, and premium. More time doing the good stuff, less time waiting on logistics.
Award-Winning Guides, Real Backcountry Systems
Your guide isn’t just “leading a hike.” They’re running a full expedition—camp systems, glacier gear, route decisions, and safety protocols—so you get to focus on the experience.
THE ITINERARY
1 | Floatplane In + Base Camp Set-Up (Welcome to the Real Alaska)
Your adventure begins at our Kenai flight office. After check-in, final gear prep, and a full trip briefing, we load the floatplane and lift off into a massive landscape of mountains, lakes, and untouched wilderness.
We land deep in Lake Clark National Park, set up a comfortable expedition-style base camp, and start exploring right away—short hikes, big views, and that first hit of “we’re really out here.”
Dinner is hot, camp is cozy, and the evening is yours: sunset walk, photos, stories, or just sitting in the quiet.
2 | Glacier Day + Ice Features (Caves, Crevasses, and Blue Ice)
Coffee comes early. After breakfast, we head toward the glacier with crampons and gear. Today is about glacier trekking—learning movement skills, reading the terrain, and exploring ice features that change every season.
Lunch happens out in the field or back at camp depending on weather and the group’s energy. Evening: another killer meal, downtime, optional post-dinner hike.
3 | Choose Your Line: Ridge Hikes, Alpine Routes, or Deeper Glacier Exploration
This is where the base camp format shines: we can tailor the day to conditions and what the group wants most—ridgelines, tundra traverses, glacier mileage, peak-bagging, photo missions, waterfall zones.
This is the “unlimited menu” day that people talk about for years.
4 | The Big Day (Summits, Big Views, and Maximum Wilderness)
By now you’re in the rhythm—moving strong, dialed in, and fully immersed. Day 4 is typically the biggest adventure push: a longer route, a higher ridge, a more ambitious objective, or a full-value glacier day (weather-dependent).
You’ll come back to camp cooked (in the best way), fed, and proud.
5 | Break Camp + Fly Out (One More Alaska Moment)
We take the morning slow: hot coffee, last photos, soak it in. Then we pack camp, prep for pickup, and fly back to Kenai late morning (timing varies with Alaska weather and flight planning). You’ll land with a full camera roll and that rare feeling of having done something real.
