Important Notes

  • Please arrive on time to check-in and get set up
  • There are no bathrooms in the backcountry, so bathroom breaks are done nature-style
  • You must be able to walk on uneven, soft, steep, rocky, and slippery terrain for up to 5+ miles per day
  • Under 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult

What to Bring

  • Bring snacks, and a water bottle (water can be refilled at camp)
  • Backpack size 50-70 liters (rental packs available at checkout)
  • Sturdy well broken-in hiking boots, or hiking shoes
  • Waterproof rain jacket & rain pants required
  • Bring layers – dress for current weather conditions
  • Camera, sunglasses, sunscreen, and any personal items

Experience the majesty of the mountains on our 2-day camping and hiking tour in the backcountry. This unforgettable adventure is perfect for outdoor enthusiasts who want to escape the crowds and immerse themselves in nature.

Our experienced guides will lead you on a thrilling hike through the backcountry, passing by pristine lakes, babbling streams, and rugged terrain. You’ll push yourself to new heights and gain a sense of accomplishment as you summit peaks and take in breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains.

As the sun begins to set, we’ll set up camp in a secluded spot in the heart of the backcountry. You’ll be amazed at the peacefulness and tranquility of the wilderness as you relax around the campfire under the starry sky. Our guides will prepare a delicious campfire dinner, and you can swap stories with your fellow adventurers.

The next morning, we’ll wake up early and continue our trek through the mountains. You’ll explore hidden valleys, hike through alpine meadows, and maybe even catch a glimpse of some wildlife. Our guides will share their knowledge of the flora and fauna, geology, and history of the region, making this tour both educational and fun.

This 2-day camping and hiking tour in the backcountry is the perfect way to reconnect with nature, challenge yourself physically and mentally, and create memories that will last a lifetime. Itinerary

DAY 1:

  • 7:00am check-in and get set up at our Seward office
  • Breakfast snacks and refreshments at our office
  • 9:00am transport to the mountain zone trailhead
  • Hiking up the mountain to the first camp, lunch on the trail
  • Set up camp and get situated
  • Afternoon hiking and exploring
  • Dinner and revelry
  • Evening hike to catch a great view

DAY 2:

  • Coffee is up at 6:15am
  • Breakfast in the gathering tent 7-8am
  • Morning hiking session for more exploring
  • Lunch in the tundra or back at camp
  • Mid-afternoon take down camp
  • Hike down the mountain
  • Transport back to town (return to KBA around 4-5pm)
  • Later return times are available – inquire if interested
