5/26/20: Operations Update

From everyone at Kenai Backcountry Adventures, we hope you and your loved ones are doing well. The State of Alaska is officially open for business. The state government has lifted/rescinded almost all of the health mandates, and the current mandate for a 14-Day Self-Quarantine for any/all travelers coming to Alaska from out of state is set to expire on June 2, 2020.

Kenai Backcountry Adventures is OPEN FOR BUSINESS, and we are operating our trips this summer!

In an effort to assist those of you that currently have trips scheduled with us, here’s what we’re doing at this time:

We are extending lightened policies pertaining to already booked trips. There are a few parts to this so I’ll explain in more detail.

1) For travelers wanting to keep their reservation on the calendar for 2020 in an effort to wait it out and see what happens, we are allowing for “last minute” schedule changes, up to 2-3 weeks in advance for Expeditions and Multi-day Trips (subject to availability). For day trips, we are allowing for “last minute” schedule changes, up to 4-7 days in advance (subject to availability). So, in a nutshell, if you decide to keep your trip as scheduled, and then need to make last minute changes, we will do everything we can to move your trip to a later date in the summer, waiving any change fees of course.

2) You may postpone your trip to 2021, with priority scheduling up 60 days prior to travel. Or you may schedule your trip for dates in 2021 now.

3) **Reservations that are outside of the standard cancellation policy, you can cancel your 2020 reservations and have your balance applied to a “Gift Certificate” to be used within the next 12 months from your scheduled trip date. The gift certificate can be used for any of our trips, and it does not need to be for the same trip you originally booked.

4) **Reservations that are outside of the standard cancellation policy, we’ll extend a waiting/grace period for travelers to decide when in 2021 they would like to do their trip. Of course, honoring priority scheduling (subject to availability).

**For either of these parts, we hold your trip payments on file. Depending on the circumstances, whether a reschedule has taken place or not, we issue your payments as a gift certificate credit so there are no questions about the amount of funds you have on file.

Not knowing what everyone’s overall yearly schedule looks like, we want to point out that we usually operate trips clear through October, including expeditions. So, we should have room on our schedule to fit your trip in somewhere.

Please, contact our office if you have any questions, or if you would like to look at available options. Feel free to call or email.

We hope to see you in ALASKA!

~Wishing you the best from all of us at Kenai Backcountry Adventures
