PRIVATE & CUSTOM BEAR VIEWING ADVENTURE

A private and customized, small group tour led by experienced naturalist guides to the best Alaska bear viewing and photography observation areas. After an exhilarating flightseeing tour from Kenai you’ll touch down in Lake Clark National Park and be led by your guide to a premier location to observe bears in their natural environment.

What To Expect

This trip is fully customized to you. When you book a trip, that day is yours; it becomes your very own private bear viewing trip! You’re welcome to add more people to your reservation, up to a maximum of 12 people.

We plan the bear viewing based on how long you want to go for, how much or how little hiking you prefer to do, and the time you would like to begin your trip; all within operating parameters.

Your trip begins in Kenai with a safety briefing, and overview of the day’s adventure. You’ll board a bush plane and take to the skies on an amazing flight over mountains, glaciers, volcanoes, Cook Inlet, and wildlife. Land on the coast somewhere in Lake Clark National Park. Walk up from the beach through grassy meadows to a quiet place to observe bears in their natural environment.

After your custom time the bears, it’s time to board the plane for the return flight to Kenai. Once again you’ll get another round of the best flightseeing Alaska has to offer.

Why Choose KBA?

Adventures in the backcountry are our bread and butter. It’s all up to the bears and the time of season, but we like to take our guests to areas that aren’t crowded and require waiting in line just to stand on a man-made platform in the backcountry. Something about watching bears from a wooden deck feels a bit like zootopia… Maybe it’s just that we’re so used to seeing bears in their natural habitat all over the backcountry of Alaska during our expeditions, that a wooden platform seems out of place. Join us and we’ll show you something special.

SAMPLE ITINERARY

  2. 1.0 hour: Board our bush plane, scenic flight to the backcountry of Lake Clark National Park
  3. BEAR VIEWING in Lake Clark National Park! | Duration is up to you!
  4. 1.0 hour: Board our bush plane, scenic flight to our flight office in Kenai
  5. High-Fives – End of an awesome trip!

This is an example of how our trip from Kenai lays out for the day. As you can see, this trip makes for a very fulfilling, and rewarding day! Please, keep this sample itinerary in mind when choosing your desired duration.

Each trip involves approximately 2.0 hours of “logistics” time spent loading, unloading, and round-trip bush flights. The minimum duration of any trip is 3.0 hours, including all of the above; 3.0 hours allows for approximately 1.0 hour on the ground, in the backcountry. To determine the actual time in the backcountry, take the total preferred trip duration, and subtract 2.0, this will be the approximate time in the backcountry, give or take a few. This is a conservative time allowance.

In some locations, access to the backcountry areas we visit are sometimes subject to the timing of ocean tides, due to landing bush planes directly on the beach. In these instances, we have to time our backcountry arrival, and departure perfectly to align with the tides to allow for a suitable landing area on the beach.

For these reasons, our office will review your requests for start time and duration, and coordinate the best trip based on the schedule of ocean tides for your trip date (if applicable). Some days require shorter, or longer durations due to the timing of the ocean tides.
